Post-Conflict Political Economy in Sinjar: What the Aftermath of Conflict and Historical Neglect Mean for Recovering the Local Economy
Sinjar district provides an important case study in post-conflict economic recovery given the heavy toll the ISIL-conflict and its aftermath have taken on the land and its people. This, coupled with significant historical marginalization, have made returning to even a pre-conflict economic status quo difficult. In mapping previous and existing value chains in the district, this briefing highlights where and how they have changed or broken down and the means by which they may start to be restored.
