Home Again? Categorising Obstacles to Returnee Reintegration in Iraq

As a significant number of internally displaced people in Iraq return home, more focus needs to be paid to how well they are able to reintegrate into the communities they had once fled — materially, socially, and politically. This report, based on desk review and analysis of existing returnee household and key informant data, provides preliminary categorization of obstacles returning households face toward reintegration as well as possibilities for reconceptualizing what reintegration means in the aftermath of conflict and more nuanced ways of measuring progress in this regard, taking into account the socio-political factors that shape it.
